"What I Wish I Could Forget" - Too Close To Touch, Single Review

After winning the APMA for Best Underground Band in 2016, Too Close To Touch are expected to release their second studio album in September. The rock band merge post-hardcore and alternative rock in this track.
"What I Wish I Could Forget" doesn't quite match the high standard the band set themselves with their debut album "Nerve Endings" however the track has a strong musical core throughout. The lyrics of this track are absolutely extraordinary. Each component of this track is excellent, however when put all together, something seems to be missing.
By all means, the song is good and leaves us excited for the forthcoming album, "Haven't Been Myself". It hasn't quite reached the expectations present due to the quality of their first LP. The second track from the upcoming album "Crooked Smile" is available via Epitaph Records' YouTube channel and maintains the high quality from "Nerve Endings". This second song is much better than "What I Wish I Could Forget"; this does not by any account discredit the quality of the lead single, though.
From listening to both songs, it appears that the band are set to deliver with their new album, which is available for pre-order now.
Rating 6.5/10
